The Czech company SOPO has decided, to go in the direction of automation in the winding of electric motors. The development of the Robotic-Hand is a cooperation between SOPO and the Swiss technology company Stäubli.
This partnership has resulted in the unique prototype TX2 / SOPO. The world premiere of the Robotic-Hand will be presented at the CWIEME trade fair in Berlin from 21 May 2019 to 23 May 2019.
SOPO is one of the leaders in the European market for wound parts for electric motors. Newest methods involve robots in the manufacturing process. SOPO‘s first idea of such robot coils was born at the beginning of 2018.
“We were looking for a company with a unique position in the robotic field and meets our requirements. After careful consideration and examination of the technical possibilities of the robot manufacturers, we decided Stäubli, which has many years of experience in this area and a unique research and development infrastructure in the Czech Republic, was the best fit“, says Vladimir Olmr, Managing Director of SOPO.
Stäubli and SOPO are developing a brand new product, and simulating and preparing innovative applications. In less than half a year, a shared vision, computer simulation, and the first, successful test of a prototype were created and conducted in the training centre. With its precise, mechanically resistant gear and perfect steering, the SOPO Robotic-Hand ensures high accuracy wire positioning. Sampling individual axis positions eliminates the need for calibration and zero point initialization. Commissioning the TX2 / SOPO would significantly reduce future maintenance costs.
"SOPO will continue to focus primarily on the production of winding parts for electric motors. However, electromobility is an integral part of our company's vision for the future", adds SOPO CEO Vladimír Olmr.
“Czech companies are technologically Europe's leaders in the electrical industry, and many of them are directly involved in the emerging trend of electromobility. The CWIEME Fair is a great platform for presenting the news to the worldwide professional public”, comments Adam Jareš, Director of CzechTrade Germany, who organizes the Czech Pavilion, where you can visit SOPO amongst the other Czech companies ELEKTROPORCELáN, P&V Elektronic, PZK BRNO, and SILENT- CZECH. You can find the Czech Pavilion in Hall 3.2b, Stand 32D30.
